If life has taught me anything,
it’s to go with the flow – to roll with the punches.
Believe me, punches it will provide:
Punches,
Kicks,
Stabs,
Beatings,
Smacks,
Insensitive
strikes.
One thing it does not fall short
of is negativity. I guess I’m not making
a very good first impression. To
clarify, I’m not a pessimist - my cup isn’t half empty.
I don’t believe life forgets
about the positives, either. I’ve just learned
that the obstacles weigh three to
four times more than the achievements.
That’s life.
If love has taught me anything,
it’s that true love is unconditional.
If I’ve learned anything about
people, it’s that not all of them love, nor
do all of them understand life.
I suppose I have the upper hand,
since I qualify for both of the previous statements.
However, finding all of this out
at the young age of seventeen
is hardly fair. But who cares? Life
is hardly fair.
It interests me how humans
develop their personalities – how a sister
can hate all the things a brother
loves. How a mother and father
can have total and complete
opposite hobbies. How you have
weaknesses that could very well
be my strengths, and vice
versa.
What causes people to develop the
way they do? To be who they are?
To value their values and to
despise what they despise?
What causes people to react
differently to situations?
To choose their own style.
What makes some mock others and some unique?
What encourages me to write and you to solve
math problems?
One woman to want kids and one to reject
them?
One person to abuse and one person to adore?
What causes you to be you and me to be
me?
I don’t know the answer to that, but it’s my
goal to find out.
My theory:
Environment. Home life. The
critical period.
Surrounding.
Atmosphere. Background.
Circumstances.
You don’t have to agree, but,
hey, that’s what makes you, you.
And me, me.
